Chennai: The commissioner of Greater Chennai Municipal Corporation (GCMC) G Prakash on Thursday took the Covishield vaccine to prevent Covid-19.
Around 1,200 senior officials of the corporation are expected to get vaccinated in the next six days, Prakash said. Nearly 40,000 workers involved in the election work would also take the vaccine.
He further said that 50,000 of the 1.5 lakh workers have already been vaccinated. Notably, Assembly elections are due in Tamil Nadu for April-May this year.
