A children’s group home in Florida said it was suspending its emergency sheltering program after two children who were staying there ran away and broke into a nearby house before engaging in a shootout with responding deputies.
"Deputies did everything they could tonight to de-escalate, and they almost lost their lives to a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old," Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.
