Florida’s coronavirus trend continues to improve. With 8,720 new COVID-19 cases reported on Monday, the weekly trend for new cases remained the lowest since December 31st. However.there are now 92 cases of the COVID variant – most in the country. More than 1.4 million Floridians have been vaccinated as of Monday’s report from the Florida Department of Health. This includes 1,249,439 people who’ve received a first dose and 157,972 Floridians who’ve completed the two-dose schedule. However, with only around 5,000 doses administered for the day, the fewest immunizations took place since December. Governor DeSantis said the state is in the process of receiving another 264,000 doses for this week.

State begins scheduling second dose appointments at Hard Rock Stadium Tags:  MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A spokeswoman from the Florida Division of Emergency Management confirmed Tuesday that the state has begun scheduling second dose appointments for those who have gotten their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Hard Rock Stadium. FDEM spokeswoman Samantha Bequer said in an email that more than 250 people will be contacted Tuesday to schedule their second appointment. She said people who need to get their second dose at the site will receive a call from a number with a 786 area code. Operators will leave a voicemail and continue to try contacting patients if they do not answer, Bequer said.

Still, it was a busy weekend at vaccine sites in South Florida and there was also plenty of conversation surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine and the issues the state and local hospitals face in getting the vaccine. Recently, some local hospitals have had to cancel scheduled appointments due to a lack of supply. Miami Commissioner Joe Carollo was on hand for a mobile vaccination event for seniors at Vista Alegre Apartments in Miami.
