DENVER â Park County sheriffâs deputies arrested a man Saturday after he drove off a trail and started a campfire that got out of control and burned around 45 acres of land, the sheriffâs office said Monday.
The fire happened Saturday near Park County Road 56 and Forest Service Road 813 â southeast of Jefferson off Highway 285. The Park County Sheriffâs Office said several people camping in the area had to be evacuated but said no one was hurt and no structures were lost in the fire.

Well over a quarter of a million dollars worth of cash, collectibles and firearms have been stolen from a rural home south of Cody in what one law enforcement official is calling the largest Park County theft in 30 years.
The Park County Sheriff’s Office announced the burglary Tuedsay, although the it was reported Feb. 28.
Because of the magnitude of the theft, agents of the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation were immediately asked to assist in the investigation.
“The theft is believed to be a very deliberate and targeted burglary,” said Park County Sheriff Scott Steward. “For these reasons, and to not jeopardize the investigation, we chose not to go public with the information as we did not feel there was a risk of further burglaries.”

Hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, valuables, and firearms were stolen in what is being called the largest burglary in Park County in three decades.
Burglars stole hundreds of thousands of dollars of money and property from the residence, located about 30 miles southwest of Cody. Unlike other local burglaries, it’s the scale of the theft that has local law enforcement’s attention.
“This is by far the largest theft in my 30 years with the Park County Sheriff’s Office,” says Park County Sheriff Scott Steward.
Over $200,000 in cash and a large quantity of gold and silver Eagle Coins worth well over $60,000 were also stolen. Additional stolen items include suppressors, a Rolex watch, range finders, thermal and night vision scopes, spotting scopes, and crossbows.

PARK COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) A man faces a series of charges following a wildfire in the area of County Road 56 over the weekend.
According to the US Forest Service, the fire was reported Sunday, May, 1, at 11:56. near Park County Road and Forest Service Road 813, roughly 4.2 miles east of Jefferson.
Engines and a hand-crew from USFS and local volunteer fire departments, one large Airtanker, two single-engine air tankers, and one type two helicopter responded to the wildfire, referred to as the 56 Fire.
