While Hikes Point and Parkland are separated by just 10 miles, the experiences of people growing up in those neighborhoods can feel worlds apart. A real estate attorney who works with nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity and the Louisville Urban League, John Borders Jr. is an expert on home ownership and real estate transactions. Though he often works with people in west Louisville, the Hikes Point native said he only recently began to understand the disparity of wealth between the city’s Black and white communities. 

Louisville vaccination sites to open to those 60 and older

Louisville will open COVID-19 vaccine appointments to people 60 or older Monday, even as they work to complete vaccinations of those 70-plus group, officials announced Friday. This is outstanding news, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said at a news conference at Broadbent Arena, the site of the the city s drive-thru mass vaccine clinic. We want to get as many shots in as many arms as we can. While it likely will be weeks before the vaccine appointments take place for the new age group, people 60 or older may begin signing up through websites of local hospitals. But health leaders stressed they first want to take care of people 70 or older still seeking a vaccine who will continue to get priority.
