Kuala Lumpur: Reigning All England champion Lee Zii Jia hopes to do well in the two remaining Olympic qualifying tournaments – Malaysia Open and Singapore Open – so as to boost his confidence ahead of the Tokyo Games in July.
The 23-year-old Kedahan said both the tournaments were important warm-ups to the July 23-Aug 8 Tokyo Olympics.
Having just resumed training last Friday after nearly two weeks of quarantine following the detection of 15 Covid-19 cases at the Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM), Zii Jia admitted that time was running out to get ready for the Malaysia Open (May 25-30) and Singapore Open (June 1-6).

GEORGE TOWN: The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) is confident that the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will be able to meet all aspects of compliance with the Covid-19 protocol required to host the Malaysia Open 2021 slated for the end of this month.

“Basically, I am confident that BAM can manage this tournament and we (KBS) will support BAM’s efforts, including support in terms of providing a sports bubble framework to ensure that the tournament can be held safely and meet the requirements of the SOP.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 Another individual has been tested positive after Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) conducted a third round of tests on a total of 91 athletes, coaches and support staff at Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM) in Bukit Kiara yesterday.
BAM in a statement today said athletes and officials stationed at ABM are set to continue observing a period of self-isolation in accordance with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), National Sports Council (MSN) and National Sports Institute (ISN) protocol on quarantine until further notice.
