Officials are identifying human remains found at a West Side trailer park last month as those of a missing toddler. Police confirmed Wednesday that the Bexar County Medical Examiner s Office had identified the remains as 18-month-old James Chairez. The boy and his mother, 20-year-old D Lanny Chairez, both disappeared in January. After the mother turned up, she was charged with abandoning or endangering a child and tampering with evidence. The positive ID may lead to upgraded charges against the boy s mother. Investigators are still trying to figure out the cause of the boy s death and when he died.

Update:
The Bexar County Medical Examiner has identified a man who was found fatally shot at a far West Side hotel on Friday.
The man was identified as Anthony Oneal Easterling, 35.
According to the ME’s Office, he died from a gunshot wound to the head. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.
