This is a compilation of reports released by the Pettis County Sheriff s Office: On June 11, Pettis County Deputies responded to the 400 block of South Walnut in La Monte for a report of a stolen vehicle. Deputies gathered information and an investigation is ongoing.   On June 9 around 4:15 p.m., a deputy on patrol in the area of Smasal Road and Highway U located a white VW Touareg parked along Garrett and Smasal Road facing north in the roadway, causing a traffic hazard. The vehicle had two different license plates. The deputy ran the plates and neither checked back to the VW. Dispatch ran the VIN and the registered owner was contacted. The owner said they sold the vehicle and were not aware of who owned it now. Don s Towing was called and the VW was removed from the scene.

Independence Man Arrested on Multiple Charges On Sunday just after 1 a.m., Pettis County Deputies responded to the 30200 block of McGee Road for a possible burglary in progress. Upon arrival, deputies observed a vehicle parked in a field entrance to the east with no lights on. As deputies were making contact with the driver, another vehicle traveling through almost struck a deputy. Deputy Moore and K9 Cav were called to the scene and Cav alerted to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle. The driver, Thomas Hamline of Independence, was arrested for possession of cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, as well as three counts of possession of illegal weapons and driving while suspended.

Residential Burglars Escape Capture on Highway 52 On Thursday night at 11:23 p.m., Pettis County Deputies responded to the 16000 block of Highway 52 for a residential burglary alarm. Shortly after the alarm call to dispatch from Vivint Alarm Company, dispatch received a call from the homeowner stating that someone had entered the home through the front door. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the homeowner, who said when he heard a loud noise and then the alarm, he came out of his bedroom and saw a larger male standing inside the front door entrance to his house. The male was described as 6 4” with a larger build. The homeowner said the male had a black hoodie with the hood pulled up over his head and a white mask covering his face.
