She was one of the youngest players asked to try out for USA Basketball’s 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup Team. Clark made the team and played a surprisingly key role in helping the USA win the gold medal. Two years later, Clark is a two-time gold medalist and one of 25 participants attempting to make the 2021 version of the same team this weekend at Metro State University in Denver.

Porath is the program’s first player to receive D3hoops.com First Team honors after also garnering 2021 All-America First Team accolades from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. Due to a 2021 campaign in which many teams played conference-only schedules, D3hoops.com did not select a national Player of the Year. Porath, a 2020 D3hoops.com Third Team All-American, is the first Titan to earn multiple national honors from the online organization’s postseason awards program that began in 1998. UW-Oshkosh’s previous D3hoops.com All-Americans were Kay Mikolajczak (2004 Second Team) and Taylor Schmidt (2017 Honorable Mention).

Mohegan Jennifer Rizzotti felt like she needed a break after George Washington fired her as head coach of the women s basketball team back on March 15. Rizzotti had been a college head coach for the past 22 seasons, the first 17 at the University of Hartford. The former UConn great led legislative meetings for the Women s Basketball Coaches Association and has been part of USA Basketball, too. Rizzotti began having second thoughts about taking a breather when the Mohegan Sun came calling for her to be the president of the Connecticut Sun. I really didn t know what I wanted to do next, Rizzotti said at her introductory press conference on Tuesday at Mohegan Sun Arena. This opportunity came up pretty quickly, or at least the idea of it, and it became more of a reality as the weeks went on.

Coaches Corner: Sue Phillips Apr 22, 2021 Sue Phillips is a long-time girls basketball head coach at Archbishop Mitty High School in California and a program director and coach with the San Jose Cagers, an AAU program she founded. Phillips led the 2013 USA U16 National Team to gold at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and the 2014 USA U17 World Cup Team to gold at the 2014 FIBA U17 World Cup in the following summer. Entering her 23 rd year as the girls basketball coach and math teacher at Archbishop Mitty, she owns an amazing 638-124 career record and has won six California Interscholastic Federation state championships. In 1999, she led her team to a 31-0 record a state title and was named Student Sports Magazine National Coach of the Year.
