A Philomath man was arraigned in Benton County Circuit Court on Monday on a felony count of arson after he allegedly told police he lit a fire in his apartment
The mother of a four-year-old girl that was found at a residence in Benton County in December, will see if the Court will allow her to post bond.
Benton County authorities say they were notified just before 1 a.m. on December 20 in regards to a 4-year-old female who was deceased. James Mast stated that his daughter had been beaten, submerged in a pond, then left to freeze on the bank before being taken back into the residence. Mary Mast and a 2-year-old male child also were beaten to a severe extent. Mary and the toddler were transported by ambulance to Bothwell Regional Hospital in Sedalia for treatment.

James Mast, the father of 4-year-old Jessica Mast, who allegedly died at the hands of neighbors, Ethan Mast and Kourtney Aumen on December 20, 2020, has been released on bond.
Mast was originally being held without bond on Class A and Class B Felonies for Endangering the Welfare of a Child- No Sexual Contact. The court amended his bond to $500,000 on January 19. Online court documents indicate Mast must also meet a list of requirements stipulated by the court.
Mast was released on January 20 from Benton County Jail after posting $500,000 surety bond. Court records state that James Mast must also remain in the custody of his brother, Ken Mast, have no contact with co-defendants, observe travel restriction, wear a GPS monitor, submit to regular drug tests, not possess a firearm, alcohol or controlled substance.
