HARRISBURG – In response to winter weather conditions through much of the state, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) are implementing additional restrictions on trucks and other vehicles on certain roadways around the state, which will begin at 9:00 AM and remain in place until conditions warrant their removal. Motorists are urged to avoid travel if possible.
Effective at 9:00 AM, vehicle restrictions are anticipated on the following roadways at Tier 3 of the commonwealth’s weather event vehicle restriction plan:
Interstate 76/276/95 (PA Turnpike mainline) from Interstate 81 (Carlisle Interchange, Exit 226) to the New Jersey border;
Vehicle Restrictions Anticipated for Sunday
HARRISBURG- In anticipation of winter weather throughout much of the state on Sunday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising motorists to avoid all unnecessary travel during the upcoming storm. PennDOT anticipates that it will implement travel restrictions on trucks and other vehicles on certain roadways around the state, which will remain in place until conditions warrant their removal.
Effective at noon on Sunday, January 31, vehicle restrictions are anticipated on the following roadways that align with Tier 1 of the commonwealth’s weather event vehicle restriction plan:
Interstate 70 in both directions from the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76) to the Maryland state line;
LOWER SALFORDÂ â Route 113 (Harleysville Pike) motorists will encounter a lane closure and periodic lane shift between Route 63 (Main Street) and Gruber Road in Lower Salford, beginning Monday, Feb. 1, for construction activities under a local sidewalk improvement project, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.
The lane closure and periodic lane shift will be in place weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through mid-April.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the construction area because backups and slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The local municipal project consists of sidewalk installation, ADA ramp construction, pavement markings, guiderail installation and other miscellaneous enhancements.
