Two distribution warehouses could be built at former Alcoa plant in South Lebanon

When: South Lebanon Township supervisors meeting, Jan. 26. What happened: The board approved waiver requests for an industrial property at 3000 State Drive, allowing the former Lebanon Alcoa Plant to be developed into two large distribution warehouses. DHL supply chain intends to purchase the property from current owners Lotus Land LLC. DHL has already submitted plans to South Lebanon outlining the specifics of the development. Construction could begin as early as May. In other business: Supervisors accepted the resignation of South Hills Park manager Mike Kipp, who is retiring following 17 years of service to the township. In a related matter, the board hired Scott Walker as South Hills Park’s new manager. Walker has been employed by the township for three years as a part-time highway and part-time park employee. Prior to that, he had a 37-year career with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, some of which was spent as a supervisor.

Heavy snow is expected and accumulation is anticipated to be eight to 12 inches, meteorologists said. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Morning and evening commutes could be impacted. The warning said that snow will “overspread the area from west to east Sunday morning, reaching far eastern areas early Sunday afternoon.” “The snow will continue through Monday into early Tuesday morning,” according to the service. “The snow could be especially heavy across the southeastern portion of central Pennsylvania on Monday.”

Online ESL class offered locally LEWISTOWN TIU11 Community Education and Workforce Services is pleased to offer free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes using the revolutionary VOXY platform and their own seasoned instructors. Students can expect to learn employment focused vocabulary and increase verbal and written workplace communication. The interactive class will give students opportunities to practice speaking with peers and a trained ESL teacher.
