Work on replacing Mill Pond Road bridge in Monroe County will begin on Monday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.
PennDOT s Engineering District 5 stated that the existing T-beam bridge, which runs over Pohopoco Creek in Polk Township, will be replaced with a concrete spread box beam bridge.
The Mill Pond Road bridge, constructed in 1949, is 97 feet long and 28 feet wide, while the new bridge will span 90 feet long and 29.5 feet wide. According to PennDOT, this section of Mill Pond Road has an average daily traffic volume of 286 vehicles.
The $1,381,000 project will be headed by general contract Minichi, Inc. of Dupont, Pennsylvania.

WILLIAMSPORT-In an effort to further promote safe walking habits, the Lycoming County chapter of Safe Kids Pennsylvania donated 40 copies of “Clifford Takes a Walk” to Williamsport Area School District kindergarten classrooms and primary school libraries today.
Each classroom and library across the district will receive two copies of the children’s book that teaches the rules of pedestrian safety through Norman Bridwell’s famous Clifford the Big Red Dog and his kid companion, Emily Elizabeth.
