PennDOT’s I-79 Widening, Bridges and Bridgeville Interchange Reconfiguration The possibility of a toll in the vicinity of Interstate 79’s Bridgeville interchange continues to draw disapproval. Upper St. Clair has become the latest nearby municipality to express formal opposition. Township commissioners voted unanimously Monday to pass a resolution to that effect, joining Bridgeville Borough, Collier Township and South Fayette, where the interchange is located. In addition, the South West Communities Chamber of Commerce has launched a petition that garnered almost 2,000 signatures in its first week, according to executive director Mandi Pryor. The opportunity to sign goes throughout April, before the petition is delivered to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation by the office of state Sen. Devlin Robinson, R-Bridgeville.

Bids to expand rail facilities at Ainsworth plant opened

Apr. 11—Bids to expand rail facilities at J.M. Smucker Co.'s Ainsworth pet food plant near Meadville were opened Friday. Only two bids each were received for the two contracts of the proposed project. One contract is for construction of 983 feet of railroad track at the plant in Vernon Township, while a second contract is for a railroad car unloading area with a scale, a building and conveyor .

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s 511PA system, the crash occurred around 12:26 p.m. about one mile west of U.S. Route 11. Traffic is backed up. Drivers should avoid the area. One crash occurred about 1.9 miles south of the Exit to PA Route 39 and Manada Hill/Hershey. New traffic pattern planned for Mount Joy Township Route 230 bridge-replacement project

A new traffic pattern will greet motorists traveling over the Route 230 bridge near Musser Road in Mount Joy Township beginning April 15. The 84-year-old bridge is being replaced as part of a $2.9 million project that includes replacing a second bridge in East Donegal Township. The 26-foot-long span is in poor condition, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. As part of the Route 230 bridge project, traffic will be moved from the south side of the road to the north side, with a 10.5-foot lane maintained in each direction. There will be no center turn lane. An average of nearly 9,000 vehicles use the bridge daily, according to a PennDOT.
