Penn State wrestling wrapped up the Big Ten Championships on Sunday afternoon at the Bryce Jordan Center with two conference champions for the second straight year.
Junior 133-pounder Roman Bravo-Young and sophomore 184-pounder Aaron Brooks each won titles, while senior 141-pounder Nick Lee and freshman 174-pounder Carter Starocci each took second place. Starocci was also named the 2021 Big Ten Freshman of the Year following his impressive tournament run.
The Nittany Lions finished second in the team score with 124 total points behind the Iowa with 159.5. It appeared that Penn State might have been within striking distance coming into the final rounds, but Iowa pulled away with a 4-2 record in the finals.

Minnesota Golden Gophers heavyweight wrestler Gable Steveson continued his tear through the Big Ten and won his second consecutive Big Ten Heavyweight wrestling championship on Sunday over Michigan’s Mason Parris 12-4. He becomes the first Gopher to win multiple Big Ten Championships since heavyweight Tony Nelson did it three times between 2012-2014.
Steveson received a bye into the quarterfinals on Saturday and faced #8 Tate Orndorff of Ohio State where he easily earned a win via technical fall 19-4 in the second period. He was set to face #5 Christian Lance of Nebraska in the semifinals, but Lance took a medical forfeit to advance Steveson into the finals.
