An LSU Student Has Died After Trying To Save Child In Rip Tide Get our free mobile app WAFB-TV has confirmed that a 21-year-old LSU has died after trying to save a child at a beach in Florida last week. Officials from LSU told WAFB that Layne Gravois, and electrical engineering student at the school, died after he and two others swam to save a boy being pulled under by a rip tide at Miramar Beach, Florida. Nicholls State University also confirmed to the TV station that the other two men were students at their school. Those two were identified by the school as Jordan Servat and Reed Boudreaux, who were both hospitalized after the incident.
