Highlights and reactions from Virginia men s lacrosse s NCAA Championship

Fourth Time s A Charm: BC Eagles Soar to First Title

(Inside Lacrosse Photos: Jaclyn Borowski) When Acacia Walker-Weinstein took the head coaching job at Boston College in 2013, she had her sights set on leading the program to its first national championship. She had her share of doubters. The program had never done it. Winning national championships was something they did at Maryland and Northwestern. Walker-Weinstein and Boston College came within one win of proving them wrong in the last three full seasons, appearing in three consecutive title games. BC lost each one. But Sunday was different. Playing in its fourth-straight national championship game, No. 4 Boston College finally kicked the door down, beating No. 3 Syracuse, 16-10.

Kings of DII: Le Moyne Caps Perfect Season, Stifles Lenoir-Rhyne For Sixth Title

(Inside Lacrosse Photo: Myles Tintle) “We are who we are, and we do what we do,” said Le Moyne coach Dan Sheehan, on a virtual news conference held Sunday afternoon inside Rentschler Field. Who they are: A tough, balanced team built on defense that s opportunistic on offense.  What they do: Win championships. Le Moyne won its sixth title, stifling newcomer Lenoir-Rhyne, 12-6. The Dolphins held the high-scoring Bears to one goal in the second half, while DII Player of the Year Matt Hutchings scored six goals on eight shots, earning NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors. A 7-0 run starting in the third quarter turned a close game into a runaway, as the Dolphins capped a 15-0 season.
