Florida Gators lacrosse earns number six overall seed

May 10, 2021 GAINESVILLE, Fla. –  Just over 24 hours after winning the 2021 American Athletic Conference Tournament, the Florida women’s lacrosse team received the sixth overall seed and earned hosting rights in the NCAA Tournament first and second rounds.     No. 6 seed Florida will face Mercer at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 14 at Donald R. Dizney Stadium, followed by a matchup between Jacksonville and Vanderbilt at 6:30 p.m. The winners of each game will face off on Sunday, with opening draw slated for 12 p.m.   UF enters the NCAA Tournament riding a 13-game win streak, going undefeated in conference play. The Gators are 2-1 against the Gainesville field and have gone 5-2 against the overall tournament field in the 2021 campaign.

The Lions (21-3) enter the national tournament as the No. 6 seed after winning both the EIVA regular-season and EIVA tournament titles. Penn State has won 15 of its past 16 matches, and the Lions have dropped only six sets in that stretch. They’re in the tournament for the 32nd time in their history. The No. 7-seed Crusaders (15-7), meanwhile, are making their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Conference Carolinas title.
