(MENAFN - IANS) p>Lucknow, Feb 14 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to withdraw nearly 2.5 lakh cases, lodged for violating lockdown rules following the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
A state government spokesperson said common people and businessmen, who have been running around to police stations and courts over the cases, will now be given relief. The government will drop cases lodged under IPC section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), the spokesperson said.
Uttar Pradesh Law Minister Brijesh Pathak said cases lodged for violation of Section 188 will be withdrawn automatically as also cases under Section 3 of Epidemic Diseases Act.

Aligarh: The Uttar Pradesh Police have booked Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Jayant Chaudhary and more than 5,000 other people, who participated in a major farmers meeting in Aligarh district two days ago.
A case has been filed against Chaudhary and others under the Epidemic Diseases Act for allegedly breaching COVID-19 protocols.
Lodged on Tuesday, the FIR mentions the name of only 22 individuals, including that of Chaudhary, while the others are unnamed.
The event was held amid Covid-19 pandemic with participants in attendance without face masks, not adhering to social distancing rules and in violation of CrPC 144 orders, it added.
The FIR lodged Tuesday under the Epidemic Diseases Act for allegedly violating Covid protocols, names only 22 individuals, including Chaudhary, while the others remain unnamed.
Cases against Congress leaders for flouting Covid-19 protocol during Kerala Yatra ANI | Updated: Feb 04, 2021 02:22 IST
Kannur( Kerala) [India], February 4 (ANI): Police registered cases against 26 Congress leaders who organized the Aishwarya Kerala Yatra led by the Kerala Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala and over 400 people who gathered during the event for allegedly violating Covid-19 protocols.
The cases were registered at the Taliparamba police station in Kannur district.
Kannur District Congress Committee President Satheeshan Pacheni is also named in Covid-19 protocol violation case.
Sreekandapuram police in Kannur district has also registered cases against the local leaders of Congress on the same charges. Both Taliparamba and Sreekandapuram police registered these as suo motu cases. The cases have been filed under the Epidemic Diseases Act.
