Five detainees were placed on lockdown as a result of the melee and institutionally charged with rioting, refusing orders and possession of unauthorized items. Meanwhile, two others suffered effects from pepper spray, which officers deployed to subdue the crowd, according to a statement from the Sheriff s Office. “After careful consideration, the incident is under investigation and was forwarded to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office for further review,” Sheriff Anthony Cureton said.

During the week of April 4, the United States Postal Service alerted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office that they had intercepted a package containing about 3 pounds of crystal meth, according to county Prosecutor Mark Musella. The package was mailed from Arizona and was destined for the home of Eric Raymond Shankland, 48, of Moonachie, Musella said. On Tuesday, the package was delivered and received by Shankland, according to Musella. Investigators then executed a search warrant at the home and said they seized an additional 6 pounds of crystal meth, along with paraphernalia used to distribute the drug.
