Bloomington man dies after assault in northern Minnesota

DURAND TOWNSHIP, Minn. (FOX 9) - A Bloomington, Minnesota man died after an assault in northern Minnesota, according to the Beltrami County Sheriff s Office.
On Friday at 2 a.m. officials received a report about an assault in the 1000 block of Durand Drive NW in Puposky, which is an unincorporated community in Durand Township.
When deputies arrived, they learned a man, later identified as 53-year-old Burgess J. Palmore, had died from homicidal violence. The Midwest Medical Examiner s Office ruled his death as homicide.
A 21-year-old man of Bemidji was arrested at the scene. Charges are pending.

BEMIDJI Bemidji firefighters battled two large house fires in two separate incidents on Sunday.
In the morning, a fire at 7193 Balsam Road NW caused the home to sustain major damage. In the evening, a fire at 452 Whisperwood Court SW left the home a total loss, according to a release from Bemidji Fire Chief Justin Sherwood.
In honor of Autism Acceptance Month, the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Wednesday acknowledging the contributions the community has made to better equip the department to meet the needs of autistic members of the community.
