Pella Regional Health Center Auxiliary is celebrating 60 years as an organization, and one of the key functions of the support group of the hospital is bolstering education opportunities for nurses.
Marilee Sjaardema says in memory of their daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Evers established the Mary Evers Scholarship Fund in 1966. Through the Auxiliary, she says the Mary Evers Nursing Scholarships are available to graduates of Pella or Pella Christian or who work at Pella Regional and are beginning their nursing degree or for those who are continuing their education.
Those who want to support the ongoing scholarship can make donations by mailing checks to the Pella Regional Health Center Auxiliary at 404 Jefferson Street in Pella. Click here to learn more about Auxiliary, and hear more on today’s In Depth with Dr. Bob Leonard.
Pella Regional Health Center’s Auxiliary is celebrating 60 years of service to the hospital.
Maryann Hutchinson with the Auxiliary says the group was formed on October, 30, 1960, by eight women who set up the organization to “render service to the hospital and patients.”
Over the years, she says the Auxiliary has grown to include men and women dedicated to supporting Pella Regional through gifts of time and raising funds.
Today, the Auxiliary is still serving the hospital and clinics in a variety of ways:
