There are now a total of 83 active COVID-19 cases between the two counties.
Three of the new cases today are listed as close contacts, one is travel and the remaining four are still pending.
Hospital staff are treating 17 people, with seven in ICU and five on a ventilator.
The outbreak declared on April 28th at a workplace in Belleville has been declared over. In that situation, three cases of the virus were linked.

Belleville council has endorsed a call by Cambridge council in support of Ontario requiring employers to provide workers at least five paid sick days.
Councillors debated at length the issue during their Monday meeting. It stemmed from a resolution by the City of Cambridge asking Premier Doug Ford to take further action on sick days.

An Ontario requirement of five days would give workers at least 10 paid sick days per year, the Cambridge resolution states. The number is still less than the 14-day isolation period for COVID-19.

Hastings-Prince Edward’s COVID-19 activity remains relatively high, with continued spread amid both encouraging and concerning signs.
In a telephone interview Tuesday, Dr. Ethan Toumishey of Hastings Prince Edward Public Health said local statistics have improved since April yet variants of the virus continue to cause troubling trends.

He said the region would, if not for the provincial lockdown, likely be at the orange level of Ontario’s coronavirus framework. For much of April it would have been a red zone.

A total of 20 cases have been linked to the outbreak at Belleville General Hospital’s Quinte 5 Unit. Another three cases have been linked to the outbreak in the hospital’s ICU.
Health officials have administered 65,730 vaccine doses, with 36 per cent of the population now with their first dose.
The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit added two more COVID-19 cases in Northumberland County, to their list today. There are a total of 24 active cases in the county.
Belleville police have reopened Cannifton Road North after closing it early Friday for an investigation.
Someone reported at 1:34 a.m. a man had been injured seriously, Sgt. Brad Lentini wrote in a news release. Paramedics took the man to Belleville General Hospital and then to Kingston Health Sciences Centre for further treatment.

Officers closed the street between McColl and Latchford Streets but reopened it at 9 a.m.
The Belleville police emergency response team and detectives are involved in the investigation but police were not releasing any further information as of 9 a.m.
