Carmel Valley board to revisit mobility study New Pacific Highlands Ranch communities will be considered as the planning board revisits its mobility assessment. (Karen Billing) Print The Carmel Valley Community Planning Board will revisit the work of its past livability subcommittee in an effort to finally see some movement on traffic and mobility issues in Carmel Valley neighborhoods. Back in 2014, the board’s livability subcommittee was formed in response to the numerous complaints that came before the board requesting stop signs or other specific quality-of -life issues. Rather than deal with the issues on a case by case basis, the subcommittee aimed to develop a comprehensive plan.

The Cardiff, Encinitas and Solana Beach school districts did not discuss the issue in open session. Donna Tripi, superintendent of the fifth district, Rancho Santa Fe, said she did not receive a request to place TK on the agenda. At their board meetings, Cardiff, Del Mar, Encinitas and Solana Beach had two presentations: Trent’s – which was extensive, thorough and research-based – and one developed by each school district.

Five Oceans, a local, family-owned and operated premium fish market, is anticipated to open in June, taking the place of The Baked Bear which closed during the pandemic. Five Oceans will offer responsibly-sourced, fresh fish from around the world, available whole, off-the-knife, and sashimi-grade to prepare at home or enjoy on its outdoor patio. They also plan to have oysters on the half shell, mussels, clams and, when in season, local lobster and spiny prawns. In addition to daily seafood specials, Five Oceans plans to hold weekend brunch and weekly happy hours with craft beers and boutique wines.
