In what has become a regular springtime event, Tuscaloosa City Hall has set June 5 for the 2021 Household Hazardous Waste Disposal day.
Open to Tuscaloosa County residents only, participants will be allowed to drop off a variety of household items, free of charge, between 8 a.m. and noon at the city of Tuscaloosa’s Public Safety Logistics building at 3311 Kauloosa Ave.
Household hazardous waste is defined as the discarded, unused or leftover portion of household products containing toxic chemicals.
Since at least 2007, Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa has teamed up with local governments and entities to provide its services in allowing for the safe disposal of hundreds of thousands of pounds of household hazardous waste, and the Household Hazardous Waste Day was one of few events not canceled in 2020 out of coronavirus concerns.
