VanDerWolde promoted to brigadier general in SD National Guard
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota National Guard promoted Edwin VanDerWolde to the rank of brigadier general during a ceremony at Joe Foss Field in Sioux Falls, Jan. 9.

VanDerWolde serves as the director of the joint staff and is the principal advisor to the SDNG Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Jeff Marlette on all joint issues and policies relating to the defense support to civil authorities and homeland defense programs. He also oversees joint strategic planning and training to enhance the readiness of the Army and Air Guard.

MTNG Public Affairs Office One weekend out of every month, in the town of Havre, Montana, down the road from the Hill County Sheriff’s Department, a unit of 33 soldiers gather at the Havre National Guard Armory. During the work week, these soldiers are factory workers, teachers, police officers. They are faces you pass on the street every day and would never know that, one weekend every month, they are the backbone of the Montana National Guard. The 639th Quartermaster Supply Company’s mission is to provide support to other companies in the Montana National Guard. They order supplies, repair vehicles, cook the meals, everything and anything the Montana National Guard needs to have their soldiers capable to serve their country. The unit also has two detachments located in Libby and Kalispell and those soldiers specialize in fuel distribution, shower and laundry, and water purification.

New Orleans, LA – The year 2020 has been an unprecedented year for the Louisiana National Guard. Between COVID response efforts, the busiest hurricane season since 2005 and a series of deployments, the LANG supported the longest emergency response effort in the state’s history.
