Three candidates are vying for Peterborough’s open three-year seat on the Select Board this year. The position is currently held by Ed Juengst, who was appointed temporarily in September after Karen Hatcher resigned, citing conflicts with her paid position as Peterborough’s Community and Economic Development Coordinator, which she took in April 2020. Hatcher is in the race to reclaim her seat, and intends to keep her job with the town as well, she said. “I believe that my work in the community both as a volunteer and as a town employee … provides a deep understanding of what needs to be considered to solve the complex issues before us,” in the post-pandemic world, she said.

Five County Administrator finalists named

The five finalists for the newly created Jackson County Administrator position were released this morning. The finalists are:
Andrea Aukrust currently serves as the City Administrator for the City of Hector, Minnesota, where she has been in the position for nearly three years. Prior to that, she served as Co-Owner/Manager of Davis Rental Properties in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, for 18 years. She has also been employed as the Coordinator of the Faribault, Martin, and Jackson Multi-Counties Adult Substance Abuse and Family Dependency Treatment Courts through a contracted grant position with Mayo Health Systems for over one year. Other positions she has held include a grant position in Rehabilitative Services for the Sioux Trails Mental Health Center in New Ulm, Minnesota, for nearly two and a half years, and as the City Administrator/EDA Director for the City of Spicer, Minnesota, for one year.
