The Economic Affairs Committee chaired by MK Rabbi Yaakov Margi (Shas) approved on Monday the extension by another week of the government’s decision to keep Ben Gurion Airport closed and bar foreign aircraft from entering Israel, as part of the effort to combat the spread of new coronavirus variants.
It also approved the extension of the general restrictions on the aviation industry until Feb. 28. Regulations that restrict the operation of airports and flights, including the duty to have one’s temperature taken before entering the airport and the prohibition to board a plane without a mask, were extended until the end of February, in accordance with the government’s decision.

Doha: The Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the Shura Council held a meeting yesterday, chaired by its Rapporteur H E Ali bin Abdullatif Al Misnad Al Mohannadi.
During the meeting, the committee continued the study of a draft law on mortgaging of movable funds, in the presence of CEO of Qatar Central Securities Depository Misnad bin Abdullatif Al Misnad and legal Expert at Qatar Central Bank (QCB) Fawzy Widatalla, as representatives of QCB.
The committee decided to complete the study of the aforementioned draft law at its next meeting.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30: Chairman of the parliamentary Financial and Economic Affairs Committee MP Ahmed Al-Hamad submitted a proposal to establish a public sector university to compete with Kuwait University. He suggested that the new public university should be established according to the latest global criteria and to recruit experienced and competent national and foreign academic professionals for this university. He also proposed linking the amount of subsidy granted to private companies with their contributions to the diversification of the economy and recruitment of national workers.

The Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the Parliament yesterday approved a proposal to grant BD50 as fuel subsidy to Bahraini families every month.
The move, parliamentarians said, aims to reduce the burden on families amid the economic strain caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“The subsidy will help families meet their transportation needs,” MPs said.
The Ministry of Finance and National Economy said the government is keen to improve the living standards of Bahraini citizens, for which the budget has various provisions.
“The government will continue to increase the appropriations for social protection until it reaches BD435 million per fiscal year,” the minister added.
