The Kapuskasing area continues to be the hotspot for COVID-19 cases in the Porcupine Health Unit region.
It’s reporting a new case between Fauquier and Opasatika today, due to contact with another case.
With it, the running total since arrival of the pandemic is 292 cases.

Extendicare Kapuskasing has suffered four more deaths from COVID-19 among its residents. That brings the total to eleven
The Porcupine Health Unit revealed those grim numbers along with word of five more cases in that general area. Two of them are part of that same institutional outbreak. Another between Fauquier and Opasatika is classified as being from contact with another case. The other two are in the Hearst-Hornepayne area. One is from contact, the other cause is being investigated.
The Porcupine Health Unit region has now recorded 285 cases and 20 deaths.
