Motorcyclist dies after crash in North Portland, police say

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in North Portland early Monday morning, police said.
Officers responded to reports of the crash in the 6200 block of North Marine Drive around 12:20 a.m., police said. Investigators believe the motorcyclist, who was not identified, crashed into another vehicle and the person died at the scene.
Police said there were approximately 350 people in the area for an illegal street racing event, but did not say if the motorcyclist’s death was directly linked to the racing activity.
The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team was called to the scene to investigate and North Marine Drive was closed for several hours after the crash.
