The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) officially launched Singapore’s first Maritime Drone Estate (MDE) on 20 April 2021, in conjunction with the 15th Singapore Maritime Week. Located near Marina South Pier with close proximity to the anchorages, the MDE provides a conducive space to test bed and develop drone technologies for maritime applications such as shore-to-ship deliveries and remote ship inspections.
At the launch event,
Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Transport, loaded a 3D-printed part into a drone carriage and witnessed the drone deliver its package from the MDE to a vessel at the nearby anchorage.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with industry heavyweights to establish a fund for a maritime decarbonization center in Singapore.
The deal was signed with BW Group, Sembcorp Marine, Eastern Pacific Shipping, Ocean Network Express, Foundation Det Norske Veritas, and BHP.

Under the MoC, each private sector partner will contribute S$10 million to support the establishment of the centre, while MPA will add S$60 million, bringing the fund to a total of S$120 million ($90.3 million).
