Pedestrian dies after vehicle crash in La Porte County By: Maura Johnson LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – One person has died following a vehicle crash along U.S. 421 in rural Clinton Township Tuesday night, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office reported. At 8:53 p.m., deputies were called to the area of U.S. 421 and C.R. 870 South for reports of a man walking north on U.S. 421. At 8:58 p.m. while deputies were responding to the scene, they learned that the man had been hit by a vehicle. According to reports, a gray 2016 Volkswagen passenger vehicle was traveling south on U.S. 421 and had just passed C.R. 870 South when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was standing in the U.S. 421 southbound lane, reports said.
