Pregnant woman loses unborn child after attack in Gillingham

The victim, who was 29-weeks pregnant at the time of the alleged attack, had suffered a head injury, and it was later discovered that her baby had died within the womb. The incident took place in the area of Addison Close, Gillingham, on May 30 last year. Following enquiries by Dorset Police, a 34-year-old local man was arrested. He was issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on February 26, for offences of child destruction and intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Grant Edward Chase, aged 29, was one of two men that entered a commercial premises off Newbury, Gillingham, on October 13 last year. The victim onsite, a man aged in his 50s, recognised Chase, who was carrying a short baseball bat, as someone he knew and initially thought it was a joke. Chase approached the victim and demanded money before striking him several times to the head with the bat.

Bournemouth Crown Court A MAN has appeared in court in connection with an alleged assault on a pregnant woman, who went onto lose her unborn baby. The reported victim, who was 29 weeks pregnant at the time, was taken to hospital with a head injury. It was found her baby had died within the womb. Dorset Police were called to the Addison Close area in Gillingham on 12.05am, Saturday, May 30, last year, after receiving reports of a woman found with a head injury. A 34-year-old local man was arrested. He was issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates s Court on Friday, February 26, for offences of child destruction and inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.
