Pulse Polio Programme 2021 Begins Today: Know About Your State s Plan Here FOLLOW US ON: The Polio National Immunisation Day, which is also popularly known as Polio Ravivar , is being observed on Sunday (January 31) across the country. President Ram Nath Kovind had a day ago launched the Pulse Polio Programme 2021 by administering polio drops to children below five years of age at Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi. The countrywide immunisation programme was earlier scheduled to start from January 17, however, it was deferred due to the Covid-19 vaccination drive which started on January 16. The three-day polio vaccination drive will continue till 2 February. The vaccination programme for the eradication of polio is organised twice a year.

Krishna (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 31 (ANI): Krishna district collector AMD Imtiaz has launched the pulse polio immunisation programme on Sunday at a Primary Health Centre in Giripuram area. He launched the drive by administering pulse polio drop to a child at the health centre.

The vaccination was done at around 7 lakh booths which were staffed with 12 lakh vaccinators and 1.8 lakh supervisors. The booth activity will be followed by house-to-house surveillance (mop-up rounds) over the next two to five days to identify and vaccinate children who missed getting vaccinated at the booths, the ministry said.

89 lakh children under 5 years inoculated on National Polio Immunisation Day ANI | Updated: Jan 31, 2021 21:57 IST New Delhi [India], January 31 (ANI): Close to 89 lakh children (as per provisional data) under five years across the country were given polio drop during Polio National Immunization Day, also known as Polio Ravivar on Sunday. As per an official release of Union Ministry of Health, vaccinations were conducted at close to 7 lakh booths which were staffed with around 12 lakh vaccinators and 1.8 lakh supervisors. The booth activity will be followed by house-to-house surveillance (mop-up rounds) over the next two to five days to identify and vaccinate children who missed getting vaccinated at the booths. Vaccination teams have also been deployed at bus terminals, railway stations, airports and ferry crossing to vaccinate children in transit to ensure no child misses the life-saving dose, it stated.
