Saturday morning crash on Route 140 in New Bedford kills one Standard-Times A victim was pronounced dead after an early morning crash Saturday, Massachusetts State Police announced in a press release. At 2:28 a.m. Saturday, Troopers assigned to the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks responded to a report of a car into the woods next to the off ramp from Route 140 northbound to Braley Road (Exit 7), New Bedford, state police announced in a news release. New Bedford Fire and EMS also responded.  First responders located a 2019 Kia Optima sedan with a Massachusetts registration that had crashed off the ramp, struck a metal post, and then hit a tree partially into the woods, the release said. Three bystanders were providing medial aid to the victim, a 19-year-old New Bedford man went to St Luke’s Hospital with serious injuries. WORCESTER   The family of a Worcester woman who crashed into another vehicle while driving west in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 in Sturbridge Saturday evening offered deep apologies to the families of two other women killed in the fiery crash. Wrong-way driver Deyja Jackson, 40, of Worcester, died in the crash.  “I m so sorry with their loss . I’m sorry. . We’re all going through this now,” said Willena Rosemond-Lopes, 68, Jackson s aunt who raised her like a daughter.

Read / Add Comments The crash happened Saturday, April 17 at around 6 p.m. in Central Massachusetts when one of the vehicles involved, a 2009 Nissan Murano, was traveling west in the eastbound lanes in Worcester County, near Exit 6B in Sturbridge, Massachusetts State Police said. The Nissan struck a 2011 Volvo XC60 traveling east on the eastbound side, according to state police. Lifesaving efforts were immediately attempted by responding cruisers, however, the crash resulted in fatal injuries to one occupant in one vehicle and two occupants in a second vehicle, state police said. The crash resulted in fatal injuries to the operator of the Nissan, identified as Deyja Jackson, age 40, of Worcester, and fatal injuries to the operator and passenger in the Volvo, identified as Irene Karam, age 83, of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Patricia Knauer, age 62, of Deland, Florida, respectively.
