PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan ordered the authorities concerned to ensure strict lockdown from May 8 to May 16 in line with the recommendations of National Command and Operation Centre as the province recorded 40 deaths and 792 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday. The chief minister told a meeting of provincial task force on Covid-19 that all the business and markets would remain closed except the exempted outlets providing essential services, according to a statement. The meeting, attended by provincial ministers Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Shahram Tarakai, Shaukat Yousafzai and Kamran Bangash and Corps Commander Peshawar Lt Gen Nauman Mahmood, Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz and Inspector General of Police Dr Sanaullah Abbasi, also decided that Jummatul Wida and Eid prayers would be performed under strict standard operating procedure.

According to Swabi DPO Shoaib Khan, both the killers - identified as Muhammad Zakir Shah and Shehzad - had opened indiscriminate fire on the judge’s car near Ambar Interchange in Swabi, brutally martyring the four people. “Zakir has confessed his crime before the court,” the DPO said, adding that during interrogation, the accused also gave up names of more accomplices.

IGP visits police training school

IGP visits police training school National MANSEHRA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Dr Sanaullah Abbasi visited Police Training School here on Sunday. He was received by the DIG training, DIG Hazara and district police officer on his arrival at the schools. The IGP offered fateha at a memorial of martyrs and also planted saplings in the school. He was given a detailed briefing on the curricular and extra-curricular activities of the school in the context of Ramazan and the coronavirus epidemic.
