BEVERLY HILLS (CNS) - The first in a series of road closures will begin today near the Beverly Hilton to make way for this Sunday s 78th annual Golden Globe Awards.
According to the city, beginning at 6 a.m., the eastbound curb lane of Wilshire Boulevard east of Whittier will be closed, as will Merv Griffin Way in both directions between North Santa Monica and Wilshire boulevards. Both stretches will remain closed until 4 a.m. Monday.
The following additional street closures/restrictions are planned this week: North Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed to westbound traffic from Wilshire Boulevard to Century Park East from 9 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday.
Lorain police are investigating an early morning traffic crash that took the lives of two teenagers.
On Dec. 17 at about 12:27 a.m. Lorain Police Department Traffic Bureau responded to an address in the 2000 block of East 29th Street.
An initial investigation determined a 2006 Chevy HHR was traveling westbound on East 29th Street at a high rate of speed. After passing the intersection with Oakwood Avenue, the vehicle lost control and traveled off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle came to rest after striking a tree, the release said.

The driver of the Chevy HHR was identified as a 16-year-old male from Lorain. The driver was transported to Mercy Health. He was treated and released.
