KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has consented to a state of Emergency in the country until August 1, or until the current wave of Covid-19 subsides.
In a statement by Istana Negara, the Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said the decision was made after Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin called on the Agong yesterday.

KUALA LUMPUR: Leave for policemen has been frozen to ensure maximum strength while enforcing the movement control order, the nation’s top cop said.
“Leave has been frozen unless it is an emergency. This is so that we have maximum strength to enforce the MCO and its SOPs, ” said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador (
pic) at a press conference at Bukit Aman on Tuesday (Jan 12).
On roadblocks that would be enforced from Wednesday (Jan 13), he said that at least 300 will be enforced at the start, with the possibility of more.
“The road blocks will be focused at exit tolls and state borders.
Police discretion on interstate travel until Friday 12 Jan 2021 / 22:01 H.
KUALA LUMPUR: Those stranded in other states due to the movement control order (MCO) which comes into effect at 12.01am tomorrow and wish to return to their homes can do so until Friday.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador (
pix) said today that he has directed his personnel to use their discretion when enforcing the MCO in such cases.
“There might be families away from home and stranded in other states. In this cases, we have agreed to allow them to return on the first or second day (of the MCO) or perhaps until Friday. This includes those travelling by public transportation such as train and bus. If you are stopped at the checkpoints, explain your situation to the personnel. I have directed my personnel to use wise discretion in such cases,“ he said in a a press conference at Bukit Aman this evening.
KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 12): Those who are stranded in their hometowns with valid reasons after the Movement Control Order (MCO) comes into force at midnight tonight, will be allowed to make interstate travel to return home this week, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
He said police understand that many people might have gone out of town to visit family members or for vacation and could not return before the ban on interstate travel comes into force.
“A directive has been issued to personnel on the ground to use their utmost discretion to allow those who are stranded to return to their homes.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31 An individual who threatened to kill Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay only uttered the threats in anger and meant to do nothing more than that, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
He said such acts, however, were still against the law because any threat directed to someone was a crime.
