Man arrested for Wellington restaurant robbery

Please attribute to Detective Sergeant James Stewart This morning Wellington Police arrested a 25-year-old man in relation to the robbery of the Devonshire Road restaurant in Miramar on 10 April. He has been charged with aggravated robbery and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He is due to appear in Wellington District Court Wednesday 14 April.  The victim has been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home with family. ENDS

Police urge Upper North Island motorists to stay safe on the roads

Source: New Zealand Police (District News) Police are urging motorists to take care on the roads with bad weather causing issues in the upper North Island this afternoon. Rain and wind is affecting conditions and Police have attended a number of crashes today, including 18 in Tāmaki Makaurau alone. Poor weather reduces visibility and increases stopping distances, so remember to watch your following distances when in traffic. Keep safe on the roads by: Slowing down and buckling up. Driving to the conditions. Saying patient on the roads and allowing extra time to get where you are going. Delaying unnecessary travel if you can.
