Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Mar 6, 2021 8:45 AM A 21-year-old man from Parmelee convicted of Assault With a Dangerous Weapon has been sentenced in US District Court. Jean Xarles Neck, a/k/a John Neck, age 21, must serve 21 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release and restitution may be ordered. The conviction stemmed from an incident in June 2020, in Todd County when Neck assaulted an individual, by discharging a firearm multiple times at a home where the individual was an occupant. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make neighborhoods safer for everyone. This case is also part of Project Guardian, the Department of Justice’s initiative to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws.

North Dakota man sentenced for meth trafficking in Montana

Tribune Staff A North Dakota man convicted of methamphetamine trafficking crimes after investigators seized nearly two pounds of meth hidden in a piñata and a jar of peanut butter was sentenced Thursday, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney s Office. Christopher Michael Stebbins, 53, of Williston, N.D., received 12 years and six months in prison followed by five years of supervised release. A jury found Stebbins guilty on Nov. 6, 2020, of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute meth and with attempted possession with intent to distribute meth. Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided and continued Stebbins’ detention following the hearing.

Doughty sentenced two West Monroe men accused of possessing or attempting to obtain firearms illegally. Lawrence Edward Holzer III, 39, of West Monroe, was sentenced to 24 months in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release, for possession of firearms by a convicted felon. On Aug. 15, 2019, Louisiana state parole agents conducted a routine residence check at Holzer’s home. As the agents stood outside Holzer’s front door, the observed a rifle inside a glass gun cabinet. When the agents went to retrieve the rifle, they found a pistol inside the same gun cabinet. After the agents advised Holzer of his rights, he admitted that he had placed a third gun, another rifle, underneath his bed. 

Washington woman sentenced for meth trafficking in Montana

Tribune Staff A Washington woman who admitted trafficking methamphetamine on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation and in Great Falls was sentenced on Wednesday, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney s Office. Georgie Elaine Russell, 41, of Spokane, Washington, received seven years in prison and five years of supervised release Russell pleaded guilty on Oct. 22, 2020, to possession with intent to distribute meth. Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided. Russell was detained following the hearing. The government alleged in court documents filed in the case that the Great Falls Police Department learned in January 2020 that Russell was on federal supervised release for a meth conviction in the Eastern District of Washington and was trafficking meth from Washington to the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation and Great Falls.
