Yeovil couple take part in marathon in a month challenge for Prostate Cancer UK

MORE than 10,000 runners, including a couple from Yeovil, took part in a challenge to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. Jon, 53, and Imogen Milsom, 44, took part in the charity s run the month: marathon edition in January. The couple decided to take on the challenge of running 26.2 miles in a month because Jon s dad has been received treatment for prostate cancer. They hit the target along with their eldest son Toby, 11, and managed to raise £265. Manchester-based Carl Smith shared his idea to spell out phrases during the runs at the start of the month and created a Facebook group, which now has more than 2,000 members.

Haworth man steps out to support Prostate Cancer UK

A HAWORTH man who has battled prostate cancer is taking on a mammoth challenge to boost a charity dedicated to funding research into the disease. John Brownless is aiming to walk 11,000 steps a day throughout this month in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. The challenge is part of the charity’s March the Month campaign. John, 58, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004. He still has regular urology operations – to help flow and limit the risk of infection – and checks are carried out to ensure the cancer has not returned. “I decided to take on March the Month for Prostate Cancer UK because I am actively involved with the charity – having raised over £60,000 as an ambassador and volunteer,” said John.
