Photos: PA/PAHT Covid-19 infection rates remain stable in Epping Forest and Harlow. The two districts have recorded infection rates – expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people – below 25 since the beginning of April. Harlow currently has a higher rate of infection after 18 new cases were recorded in the town in the seven days to May 7 – the latest available accurate data. Harlow’s infection rate, 20.7, is up from 18.4 the week prior when 16 infections were posted.

Young painter bashed, threatened with gun at 7-Eleven

Premium Content Subscriber only A 21-year-old Brisbane painter who has just started his own business faces a possible lengthy recovery after he was savagely bashed on Tuesday morning after popping down to his local convenience store for a packet of smokes. Coorparoo man Lachlan Warner has put the call out on social media for help finding the dog that bashed him at 7-Eleven Greenslopes about 10am. Mr Warner said the alleged offender, who he described as being of dark complexion with a short beard, short dark hair and a mole on the left side of his face, confronted him over accusations Mr Warner was staring at him.

Driver charged over collision which killed father-of-two

Premium Content Subscriber only A 20-year-old Redlands man will face court later this week charged with dangerous driving causing death following a collision earlier this year which claimed the life of a 55-year-old motorcyclist. Birkdale man John McKillop, a father-of-two, died when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Mount Cotton Rd, Mount Cotton at 1.20am on March 6 this year. Police allege the vehicle driven by the 20-year-old was travelling southbound when it hit Mr McKillop who was travelling in the opposite direction. Mr McKillop was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition but died a short while later.

Boy critical after allegedly stolen car crashes into tree

Premium Content Subscriber only A 14-YEAR-OLD boy suffered serious chest injuries after he crashed an allegedly stolen car into a tree at the intersection of Summerholm Road and the Warrego Highway. Police were called to the Hatton Vale incident about 2.30am yesterday, where they found the boy behind the wheel of a silver 2004 model Mazda 3. A police spokesman said the vehicle was allegedly taken from a Gatton home earlier that morning. It is understood the boy was the sole occupant of the vehicle when he lost control of it and rolled into a tree, causing extensive damage. Police allege the boy broke into two Gatton homes between midnight and the crash.
