Trussville PD participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

From The Tribune staff reports TRUSSVILLE The Trussville Police Department is hosting a prescription drug take back day in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Drug Enforcement Agency’s 20th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to combat the abuse or misuse of potentially dangerous medicines that have expired or are no longer needed for those whom these controlled substances were prescribed. Members of the public may bring their outdated prescription drugs and vape dispensers, as long as the batteries have been removed, and vape cartridges.

Drug Take Back Sites Planned For This Saturday

Arkansans are being encouraged to clean out their medicine cabinets and bring any unused or expired medications to one of the state’s more than 250 Prescription Drug Take Back Day drop-off locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24. In Ashley County drop-off sites include Crossett Police Department, Baker’s Pharmacy, Gammel’s Pharmacy, and Portland Drug. “Cleaning out medicine cabinets and turning the expired, unused medications over to law enforcement during a Drug Take Back event will save lives,” said Attorney General Leslie Rutledge. “It is important now more than ever that we continue to properly dispose of these prescription drugs.”
