water logging trouble
The monsoon is here and it brings trouble for residents. While many are unable to remain indoors due to water logging, many cannot come out of their homes due to flooded roads.
Residents are wondering, with worry, how they will manage things until the monsoon ends as despite many reminders, authorities have failed to improve their situation.
There are many areas in the city that are suffering due to water logging. In Doddabidarakallu, most roads are not asphalted and the mud turns into a slush with every spell of rain. “It can be argued that there is no need to come out of the house during a lockdown. Case positivity rate is falling now. From May 29 to June 4, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) conducted 4.2 lakh tests and positivity rate was 6%. It was nearly 12% the previous week.
According to P Rajendra Cholan, BBMP special commissioner, the CFR in the past week “is visibly higher as the total number of positive cases is less”. “The average daily Covid positive cases are down to 3,500 in the past one week, whereas it was 6,000-8,000 a day last week. The absolute number of Covid deaths is less,” he said.
With a decline in new COVID-19 cases in the city and the rush to hospitals reducing, private hospitals want the beds they had ceded to the government during the peak of the second wave released so tha

BBMP, which has been focusing on containing the spread of COVID-19, has not been able to crack down on use of plastic Since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, single-use, low-value plastic has made a comeback much to the dismay of activists and solid waste management experts. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), which has diverted resources to contain the spread of COVID-19 and allied activities, has not been able to crack down on the rampant use of low-value plastic.
