Many Nigerians have taken to social media to lambast the Presidency over its defence of Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami, following his pro-Islamic extremism comments.
The spotlight had beamed on the minister following a series of media reports showing his support for terrorist organisations such as the Taliban, Al-Qaeda and allegedly being a Boko Haram apologists.

The Muslim Rights Concern has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to reject voices calling for the resignation of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami.

The statement was titled ‘Pantami: Call for resignation afterthought, belated’.
The group condemned Pantami s critics, claiming it is a ploy to weaken the President Buhari-led administration. It also alleged that the critics want to score a cheap political point with their demand for Pantami’s resignation.

Malam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media, says those calling for secession from the country are its problem.
He said this on Tuesday in Abuja at an event organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Professional Forum to showcase the achievements of the President Buhari-led administration.
Shehu added that Buhari would, however, not be intimidated by the calls for secession by some persons, pointing out that the country will remain united no matter what.
“For those saying that the presidency has not been talking, our position is clearly that this country is one and will remain united by the grace of God.
