MANILA, Feb. 3 Education programs remain a top priority that the local government of Tboli in South Cotabato is pushing to deliver in far-flung sitios there, to counter efforts of communist-terrorist groups in influencing the residents to support their ideology.
In an interview, Tboli Mayor Dibu Tuan said the Indigenous Peoples in identified Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) are often the target of the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
He expressed his support for the Duterte administration s bid to end the armed conflict as stated under Executive Order No. 70 or the whole-of-nation approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace.
PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar (PCOO / MANILA BULLETIN)
Andanar highlighted on Tuesday the benefits of the government’s immunization drive as part of PCOO’s intensified campaign to convince more Filipinos to get vaccinated.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III earlier asked the PCOO to step up efforts to inform the people about the vaccines and dispel fake news about these products. Sotto claimed that many people were scared to get inoculated due to speculations that such vaccines were supposedly not safe and ineffective.
In a statement, Andanar said the PCOO would continue to “educate and enlighten” the public about the immunization drive through traditional and social media and counter the disinformation about such vaccines.
