The UAE’s Ministerial Development Council (MDC) has reviewed a study on premarital screening for genetic diseases. It also discussed ways to reduce the prevalence of genetic diseases.
The step aims at prevention of mental and physical disabilities and reducing mortality rate among children, state news agency Wam reported.
This came as the council met under the chairmanship of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
Abu Dhabi: Chaired by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Ministerial Development Council (MDC) confirmed that the UAE government attaches utmost importance to family and public health and was taking all necessary steps to build a healthy family and community.
During the meeting held today at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, the MDC reviewed a number of initiatives and plans designed to further advance government work. The council discussed a plan to reduce 50 per cent of the service centres of the federal government and convert the services into digital platforms within two years as part of the digital transformation strategy.

In presidential decrees read on state-run television SSBC, President Kiir appointed Budhok Ayang Kur and James Tor Monybuny as Upper Nile state governor and deputy governor respectively.
Mid last year, Kiir appointed governors for nine states except for Upper Nile. In late December 2020 and early January 2021, the president appointed deputy governors for those nine states. SPLM-IO had nominated Gen. Jonson Olony as their gubernatorial candidate for Upper Nile state.
