Only virtual consultations for non-essential services due to COVID-19 restrictions: PHCC

05 Apr 2021 - 16:46 The Peninsula Doha: The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has announced that, with effect from April 4, 2021, all non-essential services will only be conducted through virtual consultations using both telephone and video. “Given the current rise in COVID-19 cases, the changes have been put into effect as a precautionary measure to keep the community safe, by minimizing exposure for both patients and healthcare workers as we have a high volume of vaccination groups visiting the health centers. To limit the number of patients visiting health centers, PHCC teams will call patients to reschedule any existing appointments non-essential services by converting them to virtual consultations,” said Dr Samya Ahmad Al Abdulla, Executive Director of Operations, of PHCC.

Al Wakra Hospital emergency to close; care for COVID-19 patients

01 Apr 2021 - 18:32 The Peninsula Online Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) announced on Twitter that the Al Wakra Emergency Department will be closed from tomorrow midnight. As part of the healthcare sector’s measures to boost hospital capacity and meet increasing demand due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, Al Wakra Hospital has been designated as a facility to care for COVID-19 patients, HMC said in a tweet. HMC also added that due to this, Al Wakra Hospital’s Emergency Department will be closed. This decision will be effective from midnight Friday, April 2. In the same tweet, HMC also mentioned that people in Al Wakra and other parts of Qatar requiring urgent and emergency medical services should select one of the following alternatives:
