The study titled Whole genome sequencing in the Middle Eastern Qatari population identifies genetic associations with 45 clinically relevant traits highlights a vital piece of information wherein now there is a better understanding of the genetic risk factors that are specific to the Arab population, including those that are shared with other ethnicities.

PHCC plans to set up four new health centers

Qatar’s healthcare sector has maintained a strong focus on establishing new facilities to address the healthcare needs of the growing population. Under this ambition, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has planned to set up four new primary health centers (HCs) at different locations in the country. According to a report by the local Arabic daily, Arrayah, the new centers will be opened in Al Hilal, Bani Hajer, Umm Ghuwailina and Khalifa City by 2024. These new centers will feature several services and comprise specialized clinics such as dental, ENT, chronic and skin disease treatment as well as physiotherapy and wellness services, according to Arrayah.
