Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Qatar has spared no effort in protecting the health of its citizens and residents.
From allocating dedicated facilities to test and manage COVID-19 patients to coordinating with top international pharmaceutical companies to secure safe and reliable vaccines for the country’s citizens and residents.
Earlier this month, the country began administering the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. According to a senior public health official, no severe side effects have been observed in people who took the second shot of the vaccine, so far.
As it continues rolling out the first phase of its nationwide COVID-19 campaign, the country’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) also launched a new online service for the public to register their interest in taking the vaccine.

Doha: Managing director of Primary Health Care Corporation, Dr Mariam AbdulMalik has said that in the first few weeks of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign the medical teams have carefully monitored all recipients following their vaccinations as this essential to check for possible side effects.
“As with any vaccination we have seen a small number of mild side effects, mainly soreness at the site of the injection. However, we have not seen any serious side effects directly related to the vaccine among patients receiving either the first or second dose of the vaccine,” she said speaking at a televised press conference held to announce the new developments related to COVID-19 in the country.

Doha: The Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari underlined that Qatar has witnessed stability in the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak for several weeks and has not faced a second wave of the virus.
The Minister pointed out that there are few cases of virus outbreaks that are mostly related to family, social gatherings, or shared places of residence, and this is controlled through effective monitoring and case tracking, warning that this does not mean that we are completely safe from the threat of the second wave.
During her opening address at the Qatar Health 2021 Virtual Conference, HE Dr. Al Kuwari told delegates that under the direction of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani the health sector have worked with partners across government to deliver a comprehensive strategy to protect Qatar s population from the threat of COVID-
Travellers with chronic conditions told to register online

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has said that travellers with chronic health conditions are required to register online to get a medical report to be exempted from hotel quarantine. It also said that quarantine exemptions are not applicable for arrivals from some countries.
According to the Ministry, if a traveller has one of the conditions listed in the vulnerable groups under Qatar’s Travel and Return Policy during COVID-19, citizens and residents must obtain a medical certificate by logging in to their account on ‘My Health’ portal that shows their health condition and entitlement for home quarantine when booking their flight before travelling abroad.
